Free canine heart check

  1. Use your smartphone’s built-in recorder app to make a recording of your dog’s heart. This is “Voice Memos” for iPhone, “Voice Recorder” for Samsung, or simply “Recorder” on Google Pixel and Motorola. Make sure that your phone settings are optimal. For iPhones make sure “enhanced recording” is turned on after you record (click here). For Google Pixel, make sure “Adaptive Sound“ is off (click here).

  2. Go to a quiet environment, such as a quiet room with a closed door, and make sure that dog is at rest (i.e. they have not recently exercised or, for example, hurried up stairs).

  3. Put your ear on your dog’s chest to see where you can best hear their heart.

  4. Part their fur and put the bottom of your phone against the spot you have identified on your dog’s chest.

  5. Locate the recording in your recorder app or your phone’s file manager. Use the below form to submit your recording.
